Malaysia Tourists Visa Details

The Visa Without Reference (VWR) is a tourist visa issued for Malaysia. It is intended for individuals traveling to Malaysia for vacation, tourism, or visiting family and friends for a limited time without any business involvement. 

The VWR is valid for only 14 days and cannot be extended. Applications for this visa must be made in person at the Malaysian embassy in Abuja, and all required supporting documents should be submitted to prevent delays in processing.

Malaysia Visa Application Requirements

To apply for a tourist visa to Malaysia from Nigeria, you will need to submit the following documents:

  1. A valid Nigerian passport with at least 6 months remaining before expiration.
  2. A completed visa application form (Form IMM.47)
  3. Two (2) photocopies of the visa application form (Form IMM.47)
  4. Two (2) photocopies of the applicant’s passport
  5. Two recent passport-sized photographs.
  6. Proof of accommodation in Malaysia (such as a hotel booking or letter of invitation from a host).
  7. Proof of financial means to support your stay in Malaysia (such as bank statements or a letter from your employer).
  8. Original and two (2) photocopies of the ticket (confirmed and returned ticket)
  9. A cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip.
  10. Invitation consent letters from family or friends where necessary.
  11. Letter of consent from your employer on a business letterhead with contact details stating that you have been granted a leave of absence, the purpose, and duration of your visit, and when you intend to return to your job. Self-employed individuals must include a copy of their business license and tax returns.
  12. Travel itinerary which includes round trip flight tickets and hotel reservations inclusive of two photocopies. Emirates, Qatar Airways and Turkish airlines, Egypt airways offer flights to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, check their flight schedules for travel times and flight fares.
  13. Visa fee payment receipt.

It’s important to note that all documents must be translated into English and all original papers should be submitted along with their photocopies

How Much is Malaysia visa fee for Nigeria in 2023?

The Malaysia visa cost for Nigeria is a service charge of NGN7800 (including VAT), which must be paid at Bank Implant at the VFS Centre. 

Please bring a photocopy of the first page of your passport with you when you pay the service charge and visa fee at the bank. 

Please keep in mind that the charge is not refundable or transferable.

Visa Application processes

The Malaysia visa and the immigration application process take 4 to 6 working days from the submission date. 

Visa applications for Malaysia are accepted Monday through Friday between 09:30 AM and 12:30 PM, except on public holidays. Visa and passport collection times are Monday through Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

It should be noted that a Malaysian visa acceptance does not guarantee that you will be permitted to enter the country. You have to pass the immigration interrogation by border authorities at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport for your two-week admission to be stamped.

Malaysia COVID-19 protocols

Due to COVID-19, travel advice for Malaysia is subject to rapid change. All Travelers should ideally arrange an appointment with their health professional at least four to six weeks before travel. 

This appointment provides an opportunity to assess health risks taking into account a number of factors including destination, medical history, and planned activities. 

For those with pre-existing health problems, an earlier appointment is recommended.

All travelers must have their temperatures checked while entering Sabah, Malaysia. Those with a fever or other symptoms must have a Covid-19 RTK test at the airport before entering the state. Those who test positive must isolate at home or, in extreme cases, may be sent to a local health center.
